Partner Terms

For businesses sponsoring ducks

Last Updated: August 3, 2026

Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer. This sets out how the partner programme actually works so the terms match the product. It is not legal advice and should be reviewed by a solicitor before it governs a real commercial relationship.

1. What these terms cover

These terms apply to businesses ("you") sponsoring ducks through the DuckTrails partner portal. They are in addition to our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If the two conflict on a partner matter, these terms take precedence.

2. Accounts and approval

Anyone can register a partner account, but a business and each of its campaigns must be approved by us before reaching users. Approval is at our discretion. We may decline an application or a campaign without giving a detailed reason, though we will normally tell you what would need to change.

You confirm that you are authorised to act for the business you register, and that the offers you publish are ones the business will honour.

3. What a sponsored duck does

A sponsored duck carries your offer. When a user scans it in the app they may claim a coupon, subject to the rules you set: one coupon per user, a cooldown before the same duck gives out another, an optional expiry, and an optional total cap.

Ducks are physical objects that travel between members of the public. We cannot control where a duck goes, how often it is scanned, or whether it is kept, passed on or lost. We do not guarantee any number of scans, coupon claims, redemptions or impressions.

4. What your offer may be

Offers must be for physical goods or real-world services — a free or discounted item, merchandise, a discount at a register. Offers must not provide digital content, in-app features, virtual currency, or anything else that app store rules would treat as an in-app purchase. Campaigns that do will be rejected or removed.

Your offer must be lawful, must not be misleading, and must not target people who cannot lawfully accept it. Age-restricted offers (for example alcohol) must say so in the terms of the offer, and you are responsible for verifying eligibility at the point of redemption.

5. Honouring coupons

You agree to honour every valid, unexpired, unredeemed coupon issued under your campaign, on the terms you published, at the locations you listed. If you cannot, tell us and we will pause the campaign — but coupons already claimed remain your responsibility.

Redemption happens in person: the user shows a live screen in the app and your staff mark it accepted. Coupons are single-use and cannot be reinstated once redeemed.

6. Ordering ducks

Duck packs are physical goods. Prices are shown at checkout and payment is taken at the time of order. We seed each duck for your campaign and ship them to the address you give us.

Because each pack is programmed specifically for your campaign, orders cannot be cancelled once the ducks have been seeded. If an order has not yet been prepared, contact us and we will refund it. Ducks that arrive damaged or faulty will be replaced.

Once shipped, ducks are yours to distribute. We do not track individual ducks on your behalf beyond the statistics shown in the portal.

7. Changing or pausing a campaign

You can edit a campaign at any time. Editing returns it to review, and it stops handing out new coupons until re-approved — this protects users who already hold a coupon from the offer changing underneath them.

We may pause or end a campaign if it breaches these terms, if the offer is not being honoured, if we receive substantiated complaints, or if we are required to. We will tell you why. Coupons already claimed remain valid and remain your responsibility.

8. Your brand

You grant us a non-exclusive licence to display your business name, logo, brand colour, address and website within the app and on our website, for the purpose of running your campaigns. You keep all rights in your trade marks. Either of us can end this licence by ending the campaign, though material already delivered to users may persist.

9. Data

We give you aggregate statistics: coupons claimed, coupons redeemed, and how many ducks carry your campaign. We do not give you personal information about the users who claimed them — no names, no email addresses, no locations tied to an individual. If you collect personal data at the point of redemption, that is between you and that person, and you are the controller of it.

10. Liability

We provide the platform as-is. We are not liable for lost or indirect profits, or for the consequences of ducks being lost, damaged, or not found. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You are responsible for the offers you publish and for what happens when they are redeemed at your premises.

11. Ending the relationship

You can stop running campaigns whenever you like. We can end a partner account for breach of these terms. Either way, coupons already claimed stay valid until they expire, and ducks already in the wild will keep leading to your campaign until it is ended in the portal.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be emailed to the contact address on your partner account. Continuing to run campaigns after a change means you accept it.
